The Tijuana Speedball

posted on 9 April 2009 by tony

There was a time in my life when the only Tijuana Speedball I knew about was a mixture of heroin and crystal meth. Thankfully, a delightful cocktail by the same name was introduced to me a few years back, and that association has essentially been banished from my mind. Sigh. The only things I can think to write about pretty much involve other drug references. I’ll just give you the drink recipe, and you can create your own associations.

The Tijuana Speedball
1 shot of espresso
1.5 oz repasado tequila
1.5 oz Kahlua
1.0 oz Bailey’s

Throw all of that into a shaker with ice, pour into a martini glass and sprinkle with cinnamon. Delicious. It’s a good morning drink, or a quick pick me up before you go out drinking. Enjoy. I intend to have one before Lupec and I go out dancing tonight.

Irish Coffee: A Legend In Its Own Time

posted on 4 March 2009 by tony

With the impending chaos that is St. Patricks Day clearly on the horizon, I’ve made it my business to take the classic Irish coffee recipe back from the bartenders and give it to the people.  Without preamble, it is as follows:

Classic Irish Coffee

2oz Irish Whiskey (I’m a Bushmills man myself, but use your brand of choice)

2 teaspoons brown sugar

5-6oz freshly brewed black coffee

After dissolving the sugar, top this bad boy off with whipped cream and enjoy.  Take care not to stir once the whipped cream is added, as the true joy of Irish coffee is drinking the whiskey and coffee through the cream.  Get a few of these under your belt before you begin your revelry and you will have the energy to keep pounding Guinness once all your friends have hit the barroom floor.

Oh, and to the lovely ladies of LUPEC, you’re looking mighty fine today.  You should give me a call.
